Penalty Notice for Under Age Sales of Alcohol
You have been issued with a Penalty Notice for allegedly selling or supplying alcohol to a person under 18 years of age.
You now have three options available:
As an alternative to the penalty notice or court proceedings you may be entitled to undertake an education course. You can only do this if the officer that issued the penalty notice gave you an 'education option' or the central ticket office of the police force has contacted you to offer you an 'education option'. We (Under Age Sales Limited) are an authorised provider of the 'education option'.
If you opt for the education option as an alternative to paying the penalty, you will undertake a BTEC Level 2 award in preventing under age sales . The cost of the course is £70.00 and successful completion will result in the penalty notice being cancelled.
Your agreement to undertake the course involves no admission of guilt and will not result in a criminal conviction being recorded against you.
If you fail to comply with any of the three options, the penalty amount plus 50% will be registered as a fine against you at your local Court or you may be charged with an offence under the Licensing Act 2003.
If you are not sure what to do, you should seek independent legal advice.
You can find out about the powers of police officers to issue penalty notices with an education option by clicking here.
In order to proceed with the education option you will need to complete the following form. A member of our team will then be in touch with you to collect the course fee, issue your learning workbook and arrange for your course assessment date. All of this takes place in your work place, you do not need to attend on a course or take time off work.
